The Yoga School Berlin is a place for
life and learning for everyone - utterly free from esoterically and
spiritually dubious influences or lax fitness culture.
What makes the Yoga School Berlin so distinctive is the fusion of
traditional Ashtanga Yoga and current physiotherapeutic knowledge. With
our grasp of human anatomy we manage to strike a harmonious balance
between the traditional sequences of positions and breathing techniques
on the one hand and current awareness of body and mind on the other, in
such a way that can be incorporated perfectly into our modern style of
living.
Use the Yoga School Berlin to discover
your potential and
- raise your level of fitness and get yourself into shape
- develop stability, strength and flexibility
- build up specific muscle areas and improve your posture
- learn to be more aware of your body and develop a positive approach
to yourself
and the world around you.
The Yoga School Berlin is led by Susen Pijur and André Pijur who have
been teaching together since the beginning of 2006. Before the Yoga
School Berlin they set up Ashtanga Yoga Kreuzberg.
Susen Pijur
Susen discovered her love of Ashtanga Yoga during her long stay in
Australia and it has remained with her ever since. To continue her
training exactly where Astanga Yoga stems from, she travelled to India
to study under Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. In the city of Mysore she received
a very traditional method of training in Ashtanga from the adjustment
master, Sheshadrie. Since then she has made frequent journeys to India
to concentrate fully on the tradition of yoga. At the age of six, Susen
began intensive dance training and later went on to teach her own
groups. In her method of teaching, Susen places the emphasis on
combining the various aspects of strength, stamina, flexibility and
balance which, when brought in harmony with one another, lead to inner
peace.
André Pijur
André has successfully completed a three year training programme to
become an officially recognized physiotherapist. His takes a holistic
view to the body and combines medical aspects with those of tradition.
André discovered Ashtanga Yoga through his wife, Susen, and quickly
came to recognize its benefits for the body and mind which he now
applies in his work as a physiotherapist. He combines these two
elements in his method of teaching.
Anne Habedank
Driven by the desire to do more for herself and her body, Anne came to
learn of Ashtanga Yoga after the birth of her two children. Since then
she practices yoga on a regular basis and it now forms an unshakable
part of her life. Susen and André are her long-term teachers. She
completed a teacher training course under David Swenson and regularly
takes part in workshops. "Yoga has not only changed my body, it has
changed me as well. The practice has helped me to get to know myself
better and is a superb counterbalance to life with small children which
can be quite hard going at times."
